The Gaithersburg Book Festival, Politics & Prose and Asbury Methodist Village in welcomed country and bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs to a special event where he debuted his new memoir, Kentucky Traveler: My Life in Music. Skaggs shared stories from his memoir, treated audience members to performances of a few songs and signed books following his presentation.
In Kentucky Traveler, Skaggs, the music legend who revived modern bluegrass music, gives a warm, honest, one-of-a-kind memoir of more than 40 years in music. Skaggs’ reflections include the Ten Commandments of Bluegrass, as handed down by Ricky’s mentor, Bill Monroe; the Essential Guide to Bedrock Country Songs, a lovingly compiled walk through the songs that have moved Skaggs the most throughout his life; Songs the Lord Taught Us, a primer on Skaggs’ most essential gospel songs; and a bevy of personal snapshots of his musical heroes.
