Earlier this year the penthouse condo at the Parc Somerset in Chevy Chase sold for a D.C. regional record of $8.65 million—the most ever for a residential condo.
Now the Lauren, the new “estate-quality” condo building being constructed at the corner of Hampden Lane and Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda is aiming to set a new record.
It’s listing the 7,300 square foot penthouse unit for $10.5 million.
The residence will have a direct-access elevator, hardwood and natural stone flooring, three bedrooms, four and a half baths, a formal dining room, a gourmet kitchen and a 1,500 square foot private terrace with views of downtown Bethesda.
TTR Sotheby’s International Realty is marketing the condo toward Potomac or Bethesda buyers looking to move from a suburban estate to more urban living.
“With residents of nearby Embassy Row, Bethesda and Potomac looking to streamline their estates, and more high-end buyers desiring the ease of urban living, The Lauren is answering the current demand in a major way,” said David DeSantis, partner and managing broker of TTR Sotheby’s, in a statement.
The building also includes amenities like a fully equipped catering kitchen, wine lounge and a 3,000 square foot shared rooftop terrace. The 29 “estate quality” units at the building start at $1.5 million. There’s also six-lower priced units and five guest suites.
The eight story building is expected to be completed in the spring of 2016. The project is a joint venture between 1788 Holdings and Persimmon Capital Partners.
