Spike Jonze, Director/Screenwriter

Spike Jonze  was born in Rockville, grew up in Bethesda and graduated from Walt Whitman High School. Jonze, whose real name is Adam Speigel, got his nickname Spike from a former boss at a Rockville BMX store because of his frequently unkempt hair. Jonze won an Academy Award and Golden Globe in 2014 for the writing the screenplay for Her. His credits as a director include Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Where the Wild Things Are, and Her.
