Local Developers Pick Local Builder to Deliver Single-Family Homes
Bethesda-based developer EYA and Rockville-based developer Streetscape Partners have chosen Sandy Spring Builders to construct 10 single-family homes planned for the Grosvenor Heights project around the historic Grosvenor Mansion in Bethesda.
The community will center on 142 luxury town homes, most of which will start at $1.1 million. Bethesda-based Sandy Spring builders will take care of the 10 detached homes on the edge of the property fronting Fleming Avenue.
Each home will be four levels with covered parking for up to four cars. Local Long & Foster Realty agent Wendy Banner is handling pre-construction sales. Prices for the homes start at $1,495,000.
EYA says more than 20 percent of the town homes are sold and first move-ins are expected at the end of the year. A sales center is open at 5430 Grosvenor Lane.

Tour Three Potomac Mansions and a Holiday Carriage House
The 59th annual Potomac Country House Tour is set for this weekend and includes three of the area’s most opulent homes, plus a Holiday Carriage House that will stock home accessories.
The “French Provincial” Hye Land House, 10.5-acre Villa dei Leoni and English Country Manor House on Red Barn Lane will be on display for those who buy tickets, which cost $30 in advance and $40 on the day of the event.
All proceeds go to Potomac’s St. Francis Episcopal Church, which will distribute the money to more than 20 charities and nonprofit groups.
The event includes a silent auction and a luncheon Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tours will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Construction could start soon on downtown Silver Spring apartment building
Developers Willco and Foulger-Pratt earlier this month got three construction permits needed for their 16-story 8621 Georgia Ave. project in downtown Silver Spring.
Lisa Wood, communications manager at Foulger-Pratt, said groundbreaking is set for this month.
The surface parking lot was first proposed to be redeveloped into an office building. But because of a weak office market, the developers instead proposed building an apartment project. The plan is for 292 units above about 1,500 square feet of ground-floor retail.
The property is located just north of the Lee Office Building, a landmark at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road.
