The American Tap Room restaurant in Rockville Town Square appears to have served its last beer.
The restaurant was closed Monday at lunchtime, with chairs placed on the tables, and was also closed Sunday evening, when it’s regularly open, according to the local blog Rockville Nights.
The restaurant has shut down its Facebook page and no one answered the phone number listed on the website during business hours.
Thompson Hospitality, which operates other American Tap Room franchise locations including the one in Bethesda, is no longer affiliated with the Rockville location after the owner, Gopal Kapoor, broke off from the company, according to Thompson spokeswoman Robyn Leenaerts. A manager at the Bethesda location said Monday that restaurant is doing well.
Deidre Johnson, vice president of asset management at Federal Realty, which owns the building that houses the restaurant at 36A Maryland Ave., said in a statement provided to Bethesda Beat: “While we cannot comment on our merchant leases, we look forward to announcing a new and exciting restaurant in the next month or two.”
