New images are online showing a towering office and apartment complex on the downtown Bethesda site where the Apex building now stands.
The renderings of a developer’s vision for 7272 Wisconsin Ave. were presented Thursday during a meeting of the Montgomery County Planning Board. At the meeting, the board approved a preliminary plan for the developer, Carr Properties, to construct more than 937,000 square feet of mixed-use space. The building will also accommodate an underground light-rail station for the Purple Line and an entrance to the Bethesda Metro Station. The images depict an office tower and two residential towers with up to 480 homes rising from a shared “podium” that will contain parking, businesses and entrances to the building.
A planned plaza with landscaping and walkways also appears in one of the renderings.
The project’s sketch plan is set to come before the board for consideration Jan. 19.
