A fire broke out in the parking garage at Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery mall Thursday evening, causing about $75,000 in damage to six vehicles, according to county fire department spokesman Pete Piringer.

Piringer reported two cars were totaled, two were moderately damaged and two others had some smoke and heat damage.

The fire started around 7:45 p.m. and reportedly began after one car ignited and the flames spread to other vehicles. Firefighters extinguished the blaze after about 30 minutes, leaving a pool of water in the garage, according to photos from the scene. No injuries were reported.
