Noodles & Company, a national fast-casual restaurant chain, announced it will close 55 underperforming locations across the country.
The company has not yet commented on which of its franchise locations, including six in Montgomery County, would close. Lauren Andrich, spokeswoman for Noodles & Company, wrote in an email that the information about the closing restaurants would be available in the coming weeks.
Noodles & Company has continued to spiral down with a year-to-year declines in sales, the Denver Business Journal reported. The 55 restaurants set to close, nearly 10 percent of its 528 locations, will be the lowest performing sites, which significantly underperform the company average and negatively impact the finances of the company as a whole, according to an announcement quoted in the Business Journal. The chain closed 16 locations in late 2015.
The franchise has locations in downtown Bethesda, downtown Silver Spring, Westfield Montgomery mall, Rockville, Kentlands and Germantown.
