World of Beer, a tavern chain specializing in craft beer, plans to open its downtown Bethesda location Monday.
The tavern, the franchise’s fourth in the state, will hold a grand opening at 11:30 a.m., according to a press release. World of Beer will occupy a 5,100-square-foot space at 7200 Wisconsin Ave. with an additional 1,250-square-foot patio.
World of Beer also has locations in Rockville, Baltimore and Towson, and more than 70 taverns across 20 states. The Bethesda location will be operated by franchise owners Matt Earl and John Stein.
The tavern boasts an inventory of more than 500 bottles of craft beers, with a focus on local brews, and 50 on tap that rotate daily, according to the press release.
The Bethesda World of Beer will aim to be a destination for craft beer, the owners said in a statement, and will also offer a menu designed to pair with its drinks, including giant Bavarian pretzels and beer-battered shrimp tacos. The tavern also has several TVs for watching sporting events.
The location will employ about 50 people. It will be open 11:30 to 12 a.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 to 12 a.m. Sunday.
