Documents recently submitted to the county outline plans for a 294-unit apartment complex to provide a high-end rental option in the North Bethesda Town Center.
The new housing would form part of the roughly 32-acre development north of Marinelli Road near the White Flint Metro station.
The town center already includes a Harris Teeter grocery story and a 366,121-square-foot office building occupied by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. It also has two other apartment buildings—the 312-unit Wentworth House and the 341-unit Aurora building.
The developer, LCOR White Flint, this month sent the Montgomery County Planning Department a proposal for a third apartment building that would be seven stories tall at its highest point. The new apartments will be the most upscale of the three housing complexes, which will stand around a shared civic green, said Matt Hard, LCOR’s vice president of development.
While the new building is proposed for 294 homes, LCOR wants flexibility to construct up to 300, according to the site plan submission.
LCOR hopes to break ground on the housing project by the summer of 2018 and expects construction will take about two years, Hard said.
The project site is owned by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, which entered an agreement with LCOR to develop the land.
