Updated 4:20 p.m.: Part of Cordell Avenue in Bethesda was blocked to cars and pedestrians Tuesday afternoon as crews repaired a gas line.
Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer posted on Twitter that a gas line had been struck at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Workers on the scene said there had been a gas leak.
Montgomery County police cars parked at Woodmont and Norfolk avenues to block the street, and remained there at 2 p.m. Police tape lined the width of the road, stopping both cars and pedestrian traffic.
Firefighters and gas crews were still working in the area at 2 p.m. The road was open to traffic again before 4 p.m., though construction continued outside Flanagan’s Harp & Fiddle.
