A man died and another man was seriously injured after their two pickup trucks crashed at a Georgia Avenue intersection in Aspen Hill.
Mario Adalberto Montoya Flores, a 28-year old from North Summit Avenue in Gaithersburg, died from his injuries at Suburban Hospital, according to Montgomery County police. The other driver, Israel A. Vasquez Bonilla, 50, of the 3400 block of Hewitt Avenue, was also taken to the hospital with injuries that were traumatic but not life threatening.
The trucks crashed at the intersection of Georgia and Hewitt avenues at about 1:50 a.m.
Police report that a 2007 Nissan Frontier, driven by Montoya Flores, was driving north on Georgia Avenue. It struck a 2017 Toyota Tacoma, driven by Vasquez Bonilla, who was attempting to turn left from westbound Hewitt onto southbound Georgia Avenue.
The road remained closed through about 9:15 a.m.
