Drawings for a residential project called “Bethesda Gateway,” at the intersection of East-West Highway and Montgomery Avenue, are headed before a panel of design advisors on Wednesday.
The concept by The Bozzuto Group, a Greenbelt-based developer, involves constructing a 120-foot building primarily dedicated to multi-family homes. A commercial component also could be part of the plan, according to a project description.
The addresses at 4300, 4302 and 4304 East-West Highway currently have single-family homes that are used as offices.
The developer has submitted some of the early renderings for the 12-story project to the Bethesda Downtown Design Advisory Panel, a group that provides recommendations aimed at supporting architectural excellence in the downtown area. The panel was created as part of the Bethesda Downtown Sector Plan, a long-range growth document approved by county leaders earlier this year.
Bozzuto is seeking input from the group on some of the building elements before making a formal project submission with the county planning board.
The panel is set to discuss the project during a meeting Wednesday morning.
