Gyroland, a fast-casual outlet serving an array of gyros and other Greek-inpired fare, has opened along Rockville Pike.

The restaurant opened last week at 1701-B3 Rockville Pike, manager Ricardo Reyes said. Gyroland serves open or wrapped sandwiches with lamb, beef, pork or chicken as set menu items or customizable dishes. Meal prices range from about $7 to $14.

There’s also platters, salads and sides, as well as Greek appetizers like the tyrokafteri spicy feta dip and loukoumades—a kind of Greek donut soaked in hot honey syrup—for dessert.

Gyroland is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Sunday.

The Bethesda location become the first McDonald’s in the country to be designated as a Certified Green Restaurant from the Green Restaurant Association.

Among its achievements, according to the association, are the location’s elimination of using plastic foam, its reliance on only LED lighting, and its water-efficient sprayers and sinks. The restaurant also doesn’t use paper towels in its bathrooms and sponsors Metro cards for employees to encourage use of public transportation.

On Friday, the Original Pancake House locations will hold a “Take a Cancer Survivor to Breakfast Day.” The restaurant’s locations in Bethesda, Rockville and Falls Church, Virginia, will donate 15 percent of all sales that day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship.

The event is held in honor of Ellen Stovall, a former CEO of the coalition, who died in 2016 after three rounds of cancer treatments. Stovall was a personal friend of the Bulman family, who own the Original Pancake House locations in the region.
