Women enters guilty plea in MS-13 killing of Gaithersburg teen

A woman was convicted of murder Monday in the gang-related stabbing of a teenager from Gaithersburg. Damaris A. Reyes Rivas, 15, was killed by a group of MS-13 gang members in Fairfax County, Virginia, early last year. Venus Romero Iraheta was 17 at the time of the attack and pleaded guilty as an adult. State leaders to tackle tax changes during legislative session

Officials in Annapolis will dive into tax law as they begin the 90-day state legislative session Wednesday. Recent federal tax changes will yield a windfall of additional revenues for the state, and lawmakers will have to decide whether to return it to Maryland taxpayers. Police ask for public’s help in double shooting investigation 


Montgomery County detectives have released a photo of two men they believe were involved in a double shooting in Germantown on Dec. 12. The image is from a surveillance camera at a business in the 19600 block of Gunners Branch Road. Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the two men. Gaithersburg boy competes on Food Network cooking show

An 11-year-old from Gaithersburg is a contestant on this season of the Food Network’s show “Kids Baking Championship.” Gareth Bennett got his start in the kitchen baking Christmas cookies with his mother when he was 4 or 5 years old. Season 4 of the Food Network show premiered this month. [WUSA9]
