Nearly three years after a devastating fire, Quarry House Tavern is moving back into its original home in downtown Silver Spring.

Quarry House Tavern’s Facebook page announced Monday that the bar hopes to reopen in mid- to late February.

“Ok dear friends, like you, we have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the Quarry House to be finished,” the post read. “Well, we finally can report that the end is in sight.”

The dive bar closed in March 2015 after a fire at the Bombay Gaylord Fine Indian Cuisine caused heavy damage to the building housing both restaurants. That April, Quarry House set up shop in the former Piratz Tavern space across the street before leaving last February.

Quarry House owner Jackie Greenbaum has long maintained she would reopen the restaurant in its longtime basement location on 8401 Georgia Ave. Greenbaum did not respond to requests for comment Monday or Tuesday.

A construction crew was working inside the Quarry House space on Monday afternoon.
