UNIQLO, a Japan-based clothing retailer, is opening a store at Pike & Rose in North Bethesda in the early fall.

The store at 11853 Grand Park Ave. will be the company’s first in Maryland. UNIQLO also has locations in Washington, D.C., and Tysons Corner, Virginia.

The company sells its own brand of clothing, called LifeWear, and the 8,000-square-foot Pike & Rose location will have sections for men, women and kids.

“Pike & Rose is a thriving new destination to live, work, shop, and dine, and we look forward to meeting the needs of our Maryland customers in style and comfort with our apparel that is made for all,” UNIQLO USA CEO Hiroshi Taki said in a press release.

UNIQLO will join other retailers at the North Bethesda development of shops, restaurants and residential buildings, including a 24,000-square-foot H&M that opened there this September.

UNIQLO, which opened its first store in Hiroshima in 1984, has 1,900 stores around the world.
