Cardin would beat Manning if election was today

A new Goucher poll has found that Sen. Ben Cardin has a sizable advantage over Chelsea Manning among Maryland voters. About 91 percent of poll respondents said they either had no opinion of Manning, of Rockville, or had an unfavorable opinion. On the other hand, 64 percent of those surveyed said they had a favorable opinion of Cardin. About 60 percent of respondents said they would support Cardin in a head-to-head matchup with Manning; only 17 percent said they would vote for Manning. [Baltimore Sun]

No increase in Metro service on the horizon

Metro officials on Thursday said they have no plans to increase service significantly in the near future. The agency indicated that about 90 percent of rush hour riders on Metro make it to their destination on time. The Metro board chair said he anticipates a proposed budget for the transit system will be approved and noted it has no fare increases or service cuts. However, officials plan to keep the service cuts and fare increases from last summer. [WTOP]

Police seek missing Gaithersburg teen

A pregnant teenager from Gaithersburg is missing, and police are asking for the public’s help to find her. Quadojah Monet Erica Adams, 18, was last seen by family members on Sunday when she left a relative’s home in Montgomery Village. She is eight months pregnant, weight about 240 pounds and is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. [WUSA9]

Silver Spring girl with sickle cell shares joy with others

A 15-year-old Silver Spring girl with sickle cell is spreading inspiration to the medical team who cares for her. Magaly’s father has said she’s been in the hospital about 150 times in her life. Despite missing many days of school, Magaly said she doesn’t give up and studies while she’s in the hospital. She’s racked up numerous academic awards, even with the challenges she faces. Now, Magaly says she wants to be a voice for other children who suffer from the disease. [WJLA]
