An SUV drove through multiple yards in Gaithersburg and struck an RV parked in a driveway before crashing into the front of an adjacent home Monday morning, leaving the driver and a passenger injured, a rescue official said.
No one was home in the house at the time, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said Monday. The woman driving the SUV and a child passenger were taken to a local hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
At about 9:45 a.m., the SUV left the road on the 800 block of Diamond Avenue. Piringer said officials hadn’t determined why the vehicle careened into the yards, but said the cause was likely a medical emergency.
The force of the impact caused the RV to spin 180 degrees, Piringer said. The SUV then continued into the house next door, after which the driver backed up and struck a tree in that front yard.
The SUV was likely totaled, Piringer said. The RV was damaged, and the house had minor structural damage as railings on the porch were knocked out and bricks were pushed in. Gaithersburg City building inspectors are analyzing the damage.
