A man used credit cards stolen from a downtown Silver Spring home earlier this month at two area stores, according to Montgomery County police.

The cards were stolen when a burglar or burglars entered a home on the 1700 block of East West Highway through a back door during the early morning of May 12, police wrote in a press release issued Friday. The burglary occurred between 1:30 and 9 a.m. Other property also was stolen.

A man used one of the stolen cards at 7-Eleven at 8455 Colesville Road and H&M at 8518 Fenton St. in Silver Spring, according to police. The same man tried to use a stolen card at Champs Sports in Westfield Wheaton mall, but the transaction was declined.

Police have asked anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the burglary to call 240-773-6710 or leave an anonymous tip at 866-411-TIPS (8477) for a reward of up to $10,000 if information leads to an arrest or indictment.
