Attempted thefts from vehicles occurred on the 8100 and 8200 blocks of Custer Road and the 8000 block of Maple Ridge Road during the week.

A person attempted to burglarize a house on the 7000 block of Beechwood Drive between May 3 and 8.
Kensington
Thefts from vehicles
Cash and property were taken from multiple vehicles parked on Old Spring Road, Kent Street and East Bexhill and Wake drives between May 1 and 6. No forced entry was reported.
North Bethesda
Burglary at elementary school
A man broke into Garrett Park Elementary school at 4810 Oxford St. at about 6 p.m. May 5. Nothing was taken.
Rockville
Stolen vehicle
A vehicle was stolen from the 800 block of Elmcroft Boulevard during the night of May 3. The owner told police that the vehicle’s key fob was left inside.
Assault at Safeway and robbery nearby
A 48-year-old man from Germantown allegedly stole food and assaulted an employee who tried to stop him from leaving the Safeway at 14939 Shady Grove Road at 9:12 a.m. May 6. Minutes later, at 9:19, he reportedly took a man’s belongings in a strong-arm robbery on the same block. Police arrested the alleged thief.
Assault arrests
Two girls, ages 14 and 16, were accused of second-degree assault in connection with an incident on the 800 block of Rockville Pike on May 8. Rockville police requested charges be filed against them as juveniles.
Stolen musical equipment
Several pieces of musical equipment were stolen from an unsecured vehicle on the 700 block of Edmonston Drive between April 29 and May 12.
Attempted home burglary
A person tried to enter a residence on the 800 block of Lincoln Street by prying open a front door between May 5 and 7. The person did not get inside.
Stolen tires
Four rims and tires were stolen from a vehicle on the 1800 block of Chapman Avenue between May 6 and 7.
