A worker was taken to a local hospital after falling off a scaffolding at the Mormon temple in Kensington on Thursday morning, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said.

The worker fell about 10 or 12 feet at about 9 a.m., Piringer said. Medics transported the worker as a priority two patient, which refers to injuries that are serious but not necessarily life-threatening. Piringer said the worker was considered a trauma patient because of the nature of the incident.

The Washington D.C. Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Stoneybrook Drive closed in April for a two-year construction project. The renovations are expected to be completed in 2020.
