Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a Silver Spring man found injured in the road in the Wheaton area earlier this week.
An autopsy determined Omar Rivas Cardenas had injuries to his head and chest, but authorities aren’t yet sure how he was wounded, according to a Wednesday news release.
Officers and rescue workers at about 10 p.m. Sunday went to the 11800 block of Huggins Drive after hearing that someone was in the roadway. Once there, they found Cardenas and took him to a local hospital, where he died, according to police.
Cardenas of the 4100 block of Sampson Road was born in 1966, but police haven’t confirmed his exact birth date.
Detectives from the major crimes division and collision reconstruction unit are working together to investigate his death.
Anyone with information should contact investigators at 240-773-5700.
