Bold Bite, the fast-casual restaurant in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle, closed on Saturday.
A sign posted on the door says, “Bold Bite is closed for business. Thank you for allowing us to serve you over the past seven years.”
Bold Bite moved in May 2017 from a small space on Fairmont Avenue to a larger space at 4903 Cordell Ave., where Smashburger had been located. The restaurant served mostly hotdogs when it opened seven years ago, but the menu gradually morphed to feature burgers, salads and milk shakes.
Bold Bite was owned by brothers Alonso and Alvaro Roche, who also own 202 Donuts & Coffee, in the original Bold Bite space, and the adjacent Taco Arepa and 202 Next Door.
202 Next Door serves coffee and breakfast in the morning and is a full-service tapas restaurant for lunch and dinner. It is the third restaurant the Roche brothers have operated in the same space in less than a year. TapaBar, which opened in 2016, closed on New Year’s Eve last year. It was soon replaced by R Family Kitchen & Bar, which lasted for only several months.
