Rockville spa owner accused of operating prostitution ring at business
Emily Zhang Lawrence, the owner of Rose’s Spa on Frederick Road in Rockville, was arrested after Montgomery County police say several of her clients admitted to paying for illegal sex acts. Police used a GPS tracking device to discover that Lawrence was picking up six Chinese women who were immigrants from a Germantown apartment. The women would perform sex acts on customers at the spa and Lawrence would then collect the money, police said. [WUSA]
New Lakeforest Mall owner asks that moratorium not be imposed
South Carolina-based WRS Inc., the new owner of the Lakeforest Mall property, is asking the city of Gaithersburg not to impose an 18-month moratorium on development. The developer hopes to turn the property into housing, a theater, restaurants and a grocery store. Mayor Jud Ashman said the purpose of the moratorium is to complete “intensive master planning.” [MCM]

Hundreds of people attended the International Food and Craft Fair in Silver Spring on Sunday. The fair, held in Veterans Plaza, included music, arts and culture from around the world. [WDVM]
