A woman was injured Tuesday morning after a metal stake went through the windshield of the vehicle she was driving on the Beltway in North Bethesda and struck her, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer wrote on Twitter Tuesday that the woman was driving on the Beltway around 6:15 a.m. near the interchange with Rockville Pike when “road debris” broke the windshield and injured her.
Piringer wrote that the woman was taken to the hospital, with priority 1 trauma and was in stable condition. Priority 1 is considered the most serious injuries, on a scale of 1 to 3.
Piringer wrote that it took 15 minutes for emergency crews to remove the woman from the vehicle.
Initially, it appeared that the metal had “impaled” her, Piringer wrote on Twitter. He later wrote that after being admitted to the hospital, the woman had suffered “impact injuries,” which were minor, and was not impaled.
