Japanese noodle restaurant coming to downtown Bethesda

Zao Stamina Ramen, a Japanese restaurant specializing in Ramen noodle entrees, is coming to downtown Bethesda next month, according to one of the owners.

Zao Stamina Ramen will be a sit-down restaurant that serves Ramen noodle bowls for around $13 and appetizers for about $7, co-owner Paysone Myatmon told Bethesda Beat this week.

Myatmon said the restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-March at 7345 Wisconsin Ave., unit B, and will serve customers inside at 25% capacity, under the Montgomery County’s new indoor dining rules, which take effect on Sunday.

The restaurant will also serve carryout, he said.

“It’s going to be authentic Japanese style. Everything [will be] made from scratch in house. The chef used to have experienced in Japan for 25 years,” he said.


Robert Dyer previously reported Zao Stamina Ramen’s impending opening last week, and that it would replace the Japanese restaurant Yuzu.

Sisters from Potomac holding pop-up cheesecake sale later this month

Nani’s Cheesecake, a New Jersey-based delivery business started by Potomac natives Amy and Nicole Greenbaum, will have a one-day popup sale on Feb. 27.


Amy and Nicole, who are sisters, started the business in October during the COVID-19 pandemic, naming it affectionately after their 97-year-old Nani, who has a secret family recipe.

The business is based in Westfield, N.J., about 20 miles from New York City, and delivers mainly in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

But the Greenbaums held a holiday “pop-up” sale at their parents’ home in Potomac in December, and plan to hold another one this month.


It costs $50 for an 8-inch cheesecake and $60 for 10 inches. Customers can choose their crust (graham cracker or Oreo), and a side topping of blueberry, cherry or raspberry.

For an extra $6, customers can choose a second topping.

Nani’s also sells “mini” versions of their cheesecakes in packs of six for $20 or 16 for $45. For $55, customers can get a “monthly minis” pack of 16.


Nani’s takes orders through email and Instagram. The preferred method of payment is through the mobile applications Venmo and Zelle, but the Greenbaums said they will accept cash if they have to.

To order, customers can email Nani’s Cheesecake at or visit the Instagram page.

Once a customer pays, the Greenbaums will share the address and work out pickup times. They said customers can ring the doorbell or contact them on Feb. 27 to let them know how far away they are. They’ll set up curbside pickup.


“However they feel most comfortable during COVID. If they want us to leave it outside with their name on it, we can do that, and it’ll be contactless,” Amy said.

Krazy Steve’s in Silver Spring pivots to catering only

Krazy Steve’s Comfort Cuisine, a Silver Spring restaurant and food truck specializing in barbecue, has closed the restaurant and shifted its operations to catering only.


Krazy Steve’s, which opened in mid-2019, posted on its Facebook page that Jan. 21 was its last day of service, and that the food truck had been successful, but not the retail operation.

In another Facebook post, the business mentioned that it would continue its catering operation due to a large amount of demand from the community. People can place their orders on Krazy Steve’s website.
