Pho Viet USA, a Vietnamese restaurant chain throughout the greater Washington region, opened at 4917 Cordell Ave. in Bethesda on Wednesday.
Pho Viet USA specializes in Pho, a Vietnamese soup consisting of broth, rice noodles, onions, pepper, Thai basil and bean sprouts as the base. The restaurant serves 10 types of Pho, each with proteins such as steak, chicken and shrimp, all between $14 and $18.
Pho Viet USA also serves rice entrees such as vegetable steamed rice with fried tofu, chicken fried rice and rice with beef. Rice dishes are between $12 and $15.
The menu also has cold noodle dishes and Banh Mi — a type of sandwich containing a type of protein and fried eggs, and served with butter, cucumber, Vietnamese pickles, green pepper, soy sauce and a small bowl of soup. These menu items are priced similarly to the other entrees.
Pho Viet USA opened for takeout on Wednesday and will eventually be open for table service once the furniture arrives, restaurant representatives said.
Henry Tran, the restaurant manager, told Bethesda Beat on Wednesday that it will be open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Pho Viet USA replaces Faryab Afghan Cuisine, which closed in February 2020. The building was later put on the market.
The Bethesda restaurant joins the Vietnamese chain’s three other locations in D.C. and one in Baltimore, according to the website.
