The seafood restaurant The Grilled Oyster Company will relocate from Potomac’s Cabin John Village shopping center to Gaithersburg’s Kentland’s development this year, according to a co-owner.
Valerie Dugan opened The Grilled Oyster with her husband, Rick, in September 2012. The restaurant features items such as oysters, crab cakes and lobster.
The Grilled Oyster opened a second location in Northwest D.C., but it closed in 2019.
Valerie Dugan told Bethesda Beat on Monday that the Potomac restaurant’s last day for indoor service was on Sunday but plans to continue carryout service Tuesday and Wednesday.
She said the goal is to open in the Kentlands within 60 to 90 days.
“With COVID, it might be delayed,” she said.
Dugan said she and her husband thought it was time to leave Potomac due to a redevelopment of the shopping center.
“It was just time for us to make a move, and the pandemic certainly didn’t help,” she said.
“We’ve had a fantastic run here in Potomac. We have a real loyal base, and we hope that [will continue] in the Kentlands,” she said.
Store Reporter first reported on Thursday that The Grilled Oyster was moving.
