Two Bethesda-based companies make Fortune 500 list
Marriott International and Lockheed Martin, both based in Bethesda, have made the annual Fortune 500 list of the largest companies in the country by revenue, which was released on Wednesday.
Lockheed Martin, an aerospace and defense company headquartered at 6801 Rockledge Drive, listed revenues of $65.4 billion and profits of $6.8 billion in fiscal year 2020. Revenues and profits increased 9.3% and 9.7% respectively from the previous fiscal year, according to the rankings.
Lockheed Martin moved up eight places from last year’s rankings.
Marriott, which is scheduled to relocate its headquarters to 7750 Wisconsin Ave. next year, ranked 293rd on the list. The hospitality company recorded revenues of $10.6 billion during fiscal year 2020, and ended the year with a loss of $267 million. The company was particularly hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, and was forced to furlough tens of thousands of workers in March 2020.
Marriott fell 136 places from last year’s rankings.
Sportswear store opens in Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery mall
Fabletics, a sportswear and accessories store, opened Thursday in Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery mall. The 1,538-square-foot store is on the second floor near Macy’s, according to a press release from the company.
Fabletics features women’s apparel such as yoga and running clothing, pants, shorts, sports bras and accessories. The store’s men’s clothing includes polo shirts, sweatshirts, pants, shorts and accessories.
A grand opening is scheduled for June 12, according to the press release. During the grand opening, merchandise will be 40% off.
Fabletics’ regular store hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, according to the press release.
New senior living community dedicated in Potomac
The Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce dedicated Brandywine Living at Potomac on May 13 with a ribbon cutting. Ann Black, the community’s first resident, cut the ribbon.
Brandywine Living at Potomac, off of Falls Road, is Brandywine’s second community in the Washington area, according to a press release. The company opened its first community in the region three years ago in Alexandria, Va.
The Potomac community is 120 suites and is currently accepting new residents, according to the press release. Its amenities include lounges, courtyards, a therapy pool, salon, movie theater and dining venues.
