Norman’s Farm Market opening a stand near Westfield Montgomery mall
Norman’s Farm Market, a local farmer’s market that normally operates three stands in Montgomery County, announced plans to open another stand Thursday near Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda.
Norman’s operates stands on Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda, Jones Mill Road in Chevy Chase and near Tilden Middle School in North Bethesda. The stand near Tilden is currently closed due to construction at the school, according to Norman’s website.
Norman’s plans to set up a large tent at the corner of Westlake Terrace and Auto Park Avenue, featuring produce such as corn, peaches, tomatoes and melons. There will also be fresh cheeses, according to the website.
The Westfield Montgomery mall location might also be used as an alternative pickup location for customers who use the Norman’s community supported agriculture (CSA) service, the website states.
A grand opening event is planned at the site during the July 4th weekend. Norman’s hopes to continue serving there through at least Labor Day.
IT’Sugar candy store opening in Westfield Montgomery mall
The candy store IT’Sugar is opening in Bethesda’s Westfield Montgomery mall, according to the company’s website. The store is known for its giant candies, such as five-pound gummy bears and two-pound Rice Krispy Treats.
IT’Sugar previously operated a store in Rockville Town Square, but it closed in December after the parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. IT’Sugar’s other Montgomery County location, in Gaithersburg, has stayed open.

Chamber of Commerce gives out annual awards
The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recently gave out its annual awards in a virtual ceremony. The annual event honors visionaries, advocates and partners in the community, the chamber’s website states.
This year’s awardees included:
- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, named Visionary of the Year
- County Council Member Andrew Friedson, named Legislator of the Year
- Visit Montgomery President and CEO Kelly Groff, named Business Advocate of the Year
- Ash Shetty, the director of the county’s Office of Procurement, named Public Sector Partner of the Year
