Amazon Fresh will open at 5463 Wisconsin Ave. in Chevy Chase Thursday morning, according to the company.
The store will open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Amazon spokeswoman Jennifer Kron confirmed to Bethesda Beat in an email on Tuesday.
Amazon Fresh features both groceries and prepared foods.
One high-tech feature is Amazon Dash Cart, in which customers can skip the checkout line if they sign in to a mobile application, place their bags in their cart and exit through the Dash Cart Lane to pay. The cart uses “computer vision algorithms” and “sensor fusion” to identify the items in the cart, according to Amazon’s website.
Amazon Prime members can shop at Amazon Fresh online and receive free same-day delivery and pickup, according to the website.
The Chevy Chase store will be the third to open in the greater Washington region. The other two stores are in D.C.’s Logan Circle neighborhood and Franconia, Va., according to the website.
An Amazon Fresh is reportedly under construction on Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, however the company has not confirmed its plans.
Amazon Fresh will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily in Chevy Chase, according to a mailer from the company.
The first 100 customers in the store on Thursday will receive an Amazon gift card ranging in value from $5 to $100. The mailer states that the store will also be giving away tote bags, samples and other gifts.
