Montgomery County remains under a tornado watch until 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Various parts of the county had received between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain from the remnants Tropical Depression Ida as of 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, weather service meteorologist Connor Belak told Bethesda Beat.
Rain from the storm has been heaviest and caused severe flooding in Cabin John, Rockville and Bethesda, Belak said. North and east parts of the county did not experience as severe weather, he said.
The storm has killed one person, and left one unaccounted for in the county.
Some rain could still fall in Montgomery County Wednesday afternoon, and there is the potential for tornados and strong winds, Belak said. However, the county is not under a tornado warning, he said.
Montgomery County Public Schools are dismissing 2.5 hours early today due to the inclement weather. County daycare programs, school and community-use activities in school buildings are also canceled.
As of 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Pepco was reporting that 209 customers in the county were without power, down from 500 earlier in the day.
