The owners of the home accessories store Red Orchard in Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center have opened a new shop with a different focus in the same shopping center.
Provisions, which specializes in gourmet foods and kitchen accessories, is nestled in a 750-square-foot space formerly occupied by Blanca Flor Silver Jewelry.
Provisions sells boutique food items, such as specialty pancake and biscuit mixes, almond butter, chocolate malt balls, cheeses and fruit-infused honeys. There are also decorative plates, bowls, towels and other items for the kitchen.
Prices run from less than $5 for some items to a maximum of $190 for paintings by local artists, co-owner Caroline Liberty said during Wednesday’s grand opening.
Liberty said she and her husband opened Provisions as a pop-up for the holiday season that spans Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.
“People are cooking more for themselves and getting more excited about those sorts of things. And so we’ve been adding gourmet food and kitchen-related stuff to Red Orchard. And this little space right here was empty, and we just decided to do a pop-up,” Liberty said.
Liberty said she’s not sure if Provisions will operate past December.
Provisions is open from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday, according to landlord Federal Realty Investment Trust.
