Bowlmor Lanes
If the idea of going bowling conjures up images of greasy food and worn-out bowling shoes, then you’ve never bowled at Bethesda’s Bowlmor Lanes. Whether you’re craving a meatball parmesan “handwich”—a creation of celebrity chef David Burke—or interested in playing arcade games, Bowlmor has it, along with 34 lanes of glow-in-the-dark bowling, big-screen televisions, two sports bars and a full-service restaurant.
“It’s great watching people’s reaction to Bowlmor,” says manager Moses Lee, whose passion for bowling began in the seventh grade. “I always knew bowling was a business I wanted to be in.”
Bethesda resident Lauren Staple says grown-ups feel like kids again when they visit Bowlmor, which was a “Best of Bethesda” winner last year, as well. “I went to an adult friend’s birthday party and I hadn’t had fun like that in ages,” she says.
And you just might bump into someone famous. President Barack Obama’s daughter Malia celebrated a friend’s 13th birthday party at Bowlmor and Vice President Joseph Biden treated his granddaughters to an outing last year.
