Dr. Shanda Priest is a compassionate and dedicated adult psychiatrist specializing in the mental health treatment of women and young adults. With board certification in General Adult Psychiatry, she focuses on a wide range of conditions such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders (including bipolar illness and depression), ADHD, trauma disorders, and adjustment disorders, among others. 

Dr. Priest employs evidence-based treatments, combining traditional and integrative approaches to evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions. She adopts a holistic care model, collaborating with a treatment team consisting of a nutritionist, psychotherapists, and other health specialists. This comprehensive approach includes ongoing care involving psychotherapy, medication management, skill building, and various interventions tailored to each patient’s needs. 

Having earned her undergraduate degree from North Carolina State University and completed her medical degree and psychiatry residency at the George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Priest’s training is extensive. She served as Chief Resident during her final year of residency. Additionally, she worked as an Active-Duty psychiatrist in the US Air Force from 2006-2011, providing care to service members and their families, including a deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Following her military service, Dr. Priest gained experience in community-based care, traditional outpatient settings, inpatient care, and consulting for Intense Outpatient Programs (IOP). She values meeting patients where they are, actively listening to their needs, and collaborating with them to develop personalized and effective treatment plans. Dr. Shanda Priest is dedicated to helping individuals achieve mental wellness and lead fulfilling lives.
