Spine surgery can be done many ways, but in 2023, the less invasive way is the best way. Dr. O’Brien’s practice focuses on effective surgery with minimal impact on patients’ lives. He has practiced in the area since 2007 and treats his patients like family.

“When recommending surgery, it’s important to consider what you would want if the roles were reversed, ” he says. A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. O’Brien treats patients in need of spine surgery, or those who have had surgery that was not effective.

“My training at Johns Hopkins prepared me to help complex cases. At this point, I’ve refined what I learned to be minimally invasive, too.”

Dr. O’Brien joined OrthoBethesda in 2017 and founded the Washington Spine and Scoliosis Institute at OrthoBethesda with other practice members.
