Prepare for five Red Line Metro stations to shut down this summer

Starting in early June, five Red Line Metro stations will shut down this summer to perform work to connect the Purple Line line-rail project to the system in downtown Silver Spring.

Service shutdowns will be experienced from the Fort Totten stop in Washington, D.C. to Glenmont and last until Labor Day in September. The Takoma Metro station will reopen sooner, but the dates are not determined yet, according to a WMATA spokesperson.

Throughout the summer, shuttle bus service will be provided to commuters but the details are yet to be worked out. [WTOP]
