Mon Ami Gabi, a French bistro in downtown Bethesda, will close temporarily this spring for renovations, the restaurant said Monday in an email statement.

The eatery at 7239 Woodmont Ave. did not provide information when asked by MoCo360 about when the remodel would begin, what it would encompass or when the restaurant would reopen.

“We look forward to introducing the newly remodeled space to our guests and the community,” the restaurant’s statement said. “We are excited to enhance our service offerings and provide an even more exceptional dining experience upon the reopening of Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda later this year.”

The Washington Business Journal first reported about the pending closure.

The bistro, which opened in Bethesda in 2002, serves a variety of classic French dishes, including escargot, steak frites and profiteroles, according to the website. Mon Ami Gabi recently participated in Savor Bethesda Restaurant Week, which ended Sunday.

The restaurant said “our employees remain our top priority” during the upcoming renovations and they will be offered the option to temporarily relocate to other eateries in the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group, which owns the bistro. The company’s other eateries include Summer House Santa Monica in North Bethesda and numerous Washington, D.C., establishments, according to the statement.

After the remodel is complete, employees will be able to return to Mon Ami Gabi, the statement said.

“Thank you for your support and understanding,” the restaurant wrote. “We can’t wait to invite our guests back to experience the refreshed Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda.”
