A Silver Spring woman won $5 million from a lottery scratch-off ticket, the Maryland Lottery announced Tuesday. The $50 scratch-off was part of the Maryland Lottery’s $5,000,000 CASH game, which launched on Feb. 19.
The winner purchased the ticket at Great Plaza Liquor in District Heights in Prince George’s County, and the store will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the top-prize winning scratch-off. [Source of the Spring]
MoCo residents can get free Lyft rides on St. Patrick’s Day
The Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide program offers free Lyft rides this Sunday for people in the area, including Montgomery County residents.
The free rides are part of an initiative to prevent drunken driving, especially on holidays. From 12 p.m. to midnight Sunday, residents ages 21 and over can get a free ride worth up to $15 in the Lyft app. To claim a free ride, enter a promo code that will be available online starting at 11 a.m. Sunday. Rio Lakefront’s carousel opens this weekend
Gaithersburg’s rio Lakefront is opening its carousel for the season on Saturday. The opening day hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
People can pay $7 for a ticket for unlimited rides for a day or purchase a $31 ticket book, which can be redeemed for 10 single rides or 5 unlimited ride day passes.
