Tasty 68, a Chinese restaurant in Damascus, will remain closed after a kitchen fire on Sunday afternoon extended to the roof, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson David Pazos said on X.

MCFRS personnel were dispatched around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday to the restaurant at 26131 Ridge Road, Pazos said. The fire was extinguished, and the restaurant sustained significant water damage, according to Pazos, who added that no one was injured.

On its website, the eatery apologized to its customers for the inconvenience that closing may cause. The restaurant offers dine-in, take-out out and delivery of offerings such as spring rolls, fried rice, lo mein and dumplings.

The restaurant did not immediately respond to a request for additional details on Monday.

Pazos said that the gas was cut off in the High Point Center shopping complex on Sunday, but he is not aware of damage sustained by other businesses.

State Farm has an office in the shopping center, and an employee told MoCo360 on Monday that while there was not severe damage, the office will be closed for a couple days while a building inspector evaluates the structure.

Other businesses in the center, including Hair Razors (beauty salon), Blackrock Tactical (sporting goods store), MMA & Sport (fitness gym) and the Stay Lit Smoke Shop and CBD Dispensary, did not respond to requests for comment or were unable to be reached.
