Jose Lainez Martinez, 29, of Silver Spring, a Salvadorian national and MS-13 member, was sentenced to 24 years in federal prison for participating in a racketeering conspiracy, including a murder in 2020, related to his gang activities.

On May 26, 2020, Lainez Martinez and another MS-13 member fatally shot someone in Silver Spring, and the murder was planned by the gang because the victim assaulted an MS-13 member and belonged to a rival street gang.
