Silver Spring rapper, Philip Prendergast, 41, also known as Phil Da Phuture, was killed Wednesday during a robbery at a business where he worked in Northwest Washington, D.C., according to a statement released Thursday from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Prendergast worked at HOTBOX Uptown at 5117 Georgia Ave. NW, a cannabis dispensary, an employee told MoCo360 Friday.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, two suspects with handguns entered the business, demanding property and money, and the victims complied, police said. The statement did not specify how many victims there were.

One of the suspects shot Prendergast and both suspects fled the scene with the property and money, according to the statement. Prendergast was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Police released video footage and photos of the suspects, who were wearing black jackets with hoods covering their heads and masks covering their faces.

The police department said it is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the homicide.
