The National Weather Service (NWS) issued an advisory Tuesday calling for a flood watch in Montgomery County from Tuesday morning until Wednesday afternoon.

In the advisory, NWS specifically noted that for Montgomery County, the Potomac River at Little Falls in the Bethesda area and Edwards Ferry in Poolesville will be at risk of flooding.

NWS said “flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible” and “excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.”

Through Wednesday, NWS projects multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms, resulting in 1 to 2 inches of rain, potentially accumulating to 4 inches in certain areas.

For the county, thunderstorms are most likely between 12 and 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to The Weather Channel.

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security warned residents to not drive on flooded roadways.
