Rockville City police are searching for the suspect in a Wednesday night shooting near the intersection of North Washington Street and Dawson Avenue in Rockville that left one man with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

Police were dispatched to a bus stop outside the Vibes Hookah Lounge for a man who had been shot in the hand around 10:55 p.m.

Officers found a man at the scene suffering from a “wound to his left hand,” according to police radio communications. He was treated by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel and released at the scene, according to police.

Police described the suspect, who fled on foot, as “an African American male with a dark beard wearing a gray shirt and light-colored pants.” Police said there is no active threat to the community.

The police department urges anyone with information about the shooting to call Cpl. Andreas Floros at 240-314-8959 or email him at AFloros@RockvilleMD.Gov.

Last week, the Montgomery County Council voted to restrict late-night business hours for hookah lounges and tobacco and vape shops, requiring them to close at 2 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. on weekends. The Vibes Hookah Lounge is open until 2 a.m. during the week and 3 a.m. on weekends.
