A 23-year-old man from Washington, D.C., was arrested for a February armed carjacking in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said in a Thursday statement.

Christopher Light was arrested March 25 and has been charged with armed carjacking, armed robbery and other firearm-related charges for the February incident, according to police. Light’s attorney, John Machado, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

Around 4:20 a.m. Feb. 5, officers responded to the area of Thayer Avenue and Mayor Lane for the report of an armed carjacking, the statement said. Police determined that three suspects armed with handguns with blue lasers and an assault rifle got out of a white Audi SQ5 and approached two victims in a 2017 Mercedes E300.

The suspects demanded that the victims exit the car. The suspects then stole the victims’ property and drove away in the white Audi as well as the victims’ Mercedes, the statement said.

Both cars were later found unoccupied, and police determined the white Audi had been reported stolen in October.

Light was identified as one of the suspects and was arrested in Washington, D.C., at the end of March. He is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County, police said. The police department said it’s still searching for two other suspects described as Black males of unknown ages.
