Isaac’s Poultry Market, which won the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s “best sandwich” award and made the top 10 in the “best sandwich” category at the World Food Championships, will be opening a second location in Burtonsville.

The new location will be at 15785 Old Columbia Pike, and it will have 25 seats inside and 20 on an outdoor patio. 

The restaurant’s first location opened last year at 12163 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg and features numerous versions of the chicken sandwich, including honey butter, buffalo and BBQ, as well as the original.

Former CAVA executive Rob Gresham, who owns the restaurant, said he is actively planning to add even more locations. [WTOP]

Dog saves family from Rockville house fire

A dog saved its family from a house fire in Rockville on Monday by alerting them of a blaze in the basement when the smoke alarms did not go off.

Charles Miller said that his dog Molly is a “hero” because she allowed Miller, his wife, and their 14-month-old granddaughter to get out of the house safely to call 911.

There were no injuries reported, but the family was displaced because the house sustained significant damage, costing over $200,000. [WUSA9]

Interfaith network will host gun buyback event in Germantown on Saturday

The D.C. Area Interfaith Gun Violence Prevention Network is hosting a gun buyback event on Saturday at the United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley at 13421 Clopper Road in Germantown.

Local residents can turn in their unloaded guns at the United Church of Christ of Seneca Valley at 13421 Clopper Road in exchange for $100 to $200 Giant grocery store gift cards.
