A man was killed early Friday when the sports utility vehicle he was driving crashed into a tree at the intersection of River and Seneca roads, according to authorities.

Montgomery County police officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded at about 12:30 a.m. to the report of a collision at the intersection, according to a police statement released Friday morning. Upon arriving, they found an orange Honda Element that had crashed into a tree.

Emergency responders extricated one man from the vehicle, according to the statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the identity of the man would be released following the notification of the next of kin.

No other information was available Friday morning.
