Montgomery County police are investigating a shooting Thursday morning that injured a man at an apartment complex on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

The incident began on a Metro bus when two women confronted the victim, according to police spokesperson Shiera Goff. The argument continued after they exited the bus and the victim was shot multiple times, according to Goff.

At least five shell casings were found at the scene according to police radio transmissions.

Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to 10805 Georgia Ave. around 11:03 a.m. for a report of a shooting, according to radio transmissions. Police officers secured the safety of the scene shortly after.

The injured man was found in a stairwell of the Wheaton House Apartments, authorities reported. A tourniquet was applied to the leg that was shot and the victim was transported with priority 2 injuries to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, according to radio transmissions.

Priority 2 is defined by the Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Providers as a “less serious condition yet potentially life-threatening injury or illness, requiring emergency medical attention but not immediately endangering the patient’s life.”
