Screen actor-turned-orchestra conductor takes the baton at Strathmore concert

Screen actor Damon Gupton leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra on Thursday at Strathmore in “Blockbuster Film Classics.” Gupton, who has appeared in such shows as Bates Motel and Black Lightning and in such films as La La Land and Whiplash, will lead the orchestra in a repertoire that includes music from E.T. Adventures on Earth, Jurassic Park and West Side Story among others. [WTOP]

Racial slurs among vandalism at Bethesda pool

Wildwood Manor Swimming Pool Association (WMSPA) officials said the pool was vandalized multiple times beginning April 30 with spray painted slurs and other graffiti appearing on “equipment and construction materials.” According to the WMSPA website, the pool is “nestled in a wooded four-acre lot off Grosvenor Lane at the corner of Cheshire Drive and Hatherleigh Drive in Bethesda.” [WJLA]
